Xenadrine-NRG
Energy Supplement
Xenadrine Overview
|
Cytodyne LLC, the manufactures of Xenadrine-NRG, claim Xenadrine-NRG is a revolutionary new extended-release energy supplement which utilizes a unique "power-pellet" delivery system. They go on to say its patented formula is specifically designed to help increase energy levels within 30 minutes and then keep on working to maintain those levels for up to 8 full hours.
|
What I like about Cytodyne's marketing campaign is that they're not promoting Xenadrine-NRG as a weight loss wonder pill – at least they're not promoting it that way on-line. Instead Xenadrine-NRG is promoted as an energy supplement, and in terms of an energy supplement it's a good one.
Xenadrine, as with almost all
energy supplements and
metabolism boosters,
contains caffeine – a lot of
caffeine.
The unique thing about Xenadrine-NRG however is how that caffeine is absorbed by the body. Xenadrine-NRG pills are hard-pressed aspirin sized pellets, and when consumed these small pellets are slowly absorbed. This slow absorption of the pills allows for a continuous sustained dose of caffeine.
The bottom line? As an energy supplement Xenadrine-NRG seems to work. It gets its fair share of positive reviews, and from the sounds of those reviews people are successfully using this supplement to lose weight. The thing to note about Xenadrine-NRG, however, is that it doesn't contain any potent thermogenic ingredients like bitter orange or
appetite suppressants
like those found in
TrimSpa x32.
Instead Xenadrine-NRG is simply only effective as an energy supplement, so in order to lose weight this supplement it must be taken in combination with a moderate exercise routine and a healthy
diet plan.
Xenadrine Results
To my surprise Xenadrine-NRG gets a lot of positive reviews from customers. Somewhere between 60 to 65% of Xenadrine customers are satisfied with its results.
Those who were positive about Xenadrine-NRG enjoyed the energy boost they experience 20 to 30 minutes after taking the pills. Customers who successfully lost weight with Xenadrine were those who used that energy boost to increase their activity level through moderate exercise. For customers who reported weight loss the range varied from 10 to 20 lbs over a two month period.
Those who were negative about Xenadrine-NRG confirmed the diet pill increases energy, but felt it did nothing to promote weight loss. What I find funny about the negative feedback was not one negative review mentioned they exercised regularly. Which brings me back to a point I harp on regularly, diet pills and weight loss supplements are going to do you no good if you don't make the appropriate lifestyle changes. It's extremely important that Xenadrine (an energy supplement) be used in combination with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Xenadrine Dosage
It's important to always read and follow the directions on the product label before taking any dietary supplements. Often manufactures change their formulas which may or may not result in a change with the recommended dosage.
At the time of writing the recommended dosage for Xenadrine-NRG is to take (on an empty stomach) as follows:
- Standard NRG Serving: To maintain energy and burn fat for up to 8 hours, take two tablets daily.
- Super NRG Serving: To increase energy and fat-burning for up to 8 hours, take three tablets daily.
- Ultra NGR Serving: For maximum energy and fat- burning for up to 8 hours, take four tablets daily.
For best results, use as part of a sensible diet and exercise program.
Some customers I've heard from indicated that even taking one pill in the morning is enough to give them the energy boost they need and that two pills per day can be too much, especially when taking Xenadrine-NRG for the first week or so.
Xenadrine Ingredients
Overall Xenadrine-NRG doesn't contain many ingredients, and can be considered a fairly simple formulation when compared to the likes of
Lipovarin
and others. You'll also note that Xenadrine includes a number of trademarked ingredients including Norambrolide™, Thermoxanthine™ Blend, and two proprietary blends called Methylxanthine Complex and Amino Acid Complex. For those of you who've read reviews I've written for other dietary supplements you'll know how much I dislike trademarked ingredients. I'm a firm believer that the customer should have a right to know what ingredients they're consuming and in what proportions.
With Xenadrine-NRG the main active ingredient is clearly
caffeine
and other xanthine alkaloids including theobromine and theophylline. Now that ephedra is banned this level of caffeine in a diet pill is fairly common. Caffeine has been known to promote weight loss by suppressing appetite, stimulating metabolic rate, and enhancing physical performance. The other ingredients such as salvia sclarea leaf extract,
l-tyrosine,
and l-theanine may help promote weight loss by increasing lipolysis (breaking down of fat cells), stimulating thyroid function, and promoting a relaxed state of mind.
Ingredients (serving size 1 tablet): vitamin b12 (methylcobalamin) 100mcg; Norambrolide™ (fermented salvia sclarea leaf extract) 28mg; Thermoxanthin™ 280mg, proprietary blend: methylaxanthine complex 218mg, proprietary blend:
yerba maté leaf (ilex paraguariensis),
guaraná seed (paullinia cupana),
cocoa seed (theobroma cacao),
green tea leaf (camellia sinensis),
green coffee bean extract (coffee arabica), naturally infused
caffeine;
Amino Acid Complex 62mg, proprietary blend:
l-tyrosine,
l-theanine; other ingredients:
calcium phosphate,
cellulose, sorbitol, gamma cyclodextrin, cephalins (phosphatidyl ethanolamine and serine), xanthan gum, inulin, magnesium stearate.
Xenadrine Side Effects
The manufacturer for Xenadrine-NRG indicate side effects (as a result of the caffeine) may include nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, and occasional rapid heartbeat.
Xenadrine customers I've heard from, and from reviews I've read on-line, customers have mentioned side effects such as nausea, headaches, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, cramps, and many customers have mentioned they've had trouble keeping the diet pills down when taken on an empty stomach (as is suggested). Some customers too have mentioned the pills can be mildly addictive and if they miss a dose they feel tired and groggy. Such addictive properties I'm assuming are the result of the
caffeine
and xanthine alkaloids.
The high dose of caffeine in these pills may cause severe withdrawal symptoms when you finally decide to discontinue using Xenadrine-NRG. Such symptoms may include headache, fatigue, depression, irritability, difficulty concentrating, muscle pain, and in extreme cases flu-like symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. For this reason you may consider rationing enough Xenadrine-NRG pills so over the last couple weeks you slowly reduce the dosage down to one pill a day – and then perhaps to even one pill every second day.
Is Xenadrine Safe?
Quickly reviewing the ingredients I note only one which may cause some concern,
caffeine.
While caffeine isn't really that huge of a deal there does appear to be a lot of it in Xenadrine-NRG. If you react negatively to this ingredient you may want to avoid Xenadrine or at least take it at a reduced dosage until you "feel it out". To control your daily caffeine intake you may also want to avoid consuming any foods or beverages which also contain caffeine. As for the other ingredients in Xenadrine-NRG I strongly encourage you to review the list of ingredients with your doctor to ensure there's nothing which may adversely affect your health.
The manufacturer's warning:
Caution: Do not take more than four tablets in an eight hour period.
A standard serving of this product contains about 150 mg of total methylxanthines (including caffeine), which is the amount typically found in a 5 oz. cup of coffee. Too much caffeine may cause nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, or occasionally rapid heartbeat in some individuals. This product also contains theobromine and theophyllin, methylxanthines related to caffeine. Individuals who are sensitive to caffeine may also experience sensitivity to these methylxanthines. Consult your physician prior to using theophyllin if you are using asthma medications.
