Stacker 2 Overview

NVE Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturers of Stacker 2, indicate Stacker 2 is designed to increase metabolism and create a thermogenic response, without the use of ephedrine. They claim when taken as directed it may help to burn fat, cut cravings and boost a sluggish system.

Stacker 2 is a bit of a unique supplement compared to the others reviewed on this site. While I was researching this diet pill (or so I thought it was a diet pill) I happened to come across the history of Stacker 2. Apparently this supplement wasn't originally intended to be a weight loss supplement at all. Instead it was intended as an alternative to stacking supplements, a practice body builders would use to get that "cut look" before competitive shows. To this day I believe it's still used by body builders but its effectiveness as a weight loss aid is well known.

The bottom line? While Stacker 2 does contain some ingredients which may suppress appetite, this supplement is mainly an energy supplement. For this reason to successfully lose weight with Stacker 2 you'll have to combine it with moderate exercise – a point confirmed by many Stacker 2 customer reviews. I maintain, however, the only true way to permanently lose weight is to adopt new lifestyle habits, including a regular exercise routine and healthy diet plan - supplements or no supplements.

Stacker 2 Results

Overall the satisfaction with Stacker 2 is about 50-50, with a few more positive customer reviews than negative. Customers I've heard from personally, and from reviews I've read on-line, report that Stacker 2 can successfully help you lose weight, if you combine it with a moderate exercise routine and healthy diet plan.

Those Stacker 2 customers who were positive about this diet pill found it successfully suppressed their appetite and boosted energy levels. The energy boost from these pills would commonly be used to increase the intensity of workouts, allowing users to workout longer and harder than usual. For those Customers who reported weight loss the range varied from 5 to 14 lbs over a one month period.

Stacker 2 customers who gave a negative review didn't think it suppressed their appetite enough to help and found the caffeine side-effects were too much to bear.

Stacker 2 Dosage

It's important to always read and follow the directions on the product label before taking any dietary supplements. Often manufactures change their formulas which may or may not result in a change with the recommended dosage.

At the time of writing the recommended dosage for Stacker 2 is to take one capsule after meals. Do not exceed three daily.

I've found many Stacker 2 customers suggest starting with one pill a day and slowing working up to the recommended dose over the course of a week or two. Apparently the caffeine level in these pills can keep you up a night if your body isn't used to it. Some customers have also indicated they avoid taking Stacker 2 after 4:00pm to ensure a good night sleep.

Stacker 2 Ingredients

Stacker 2 is yet another diet pill guilty of hiding a lot of ingredients in its own trademarked proprietary blends. When manufacturers do this they really short change their customers. I'm a firm believer that the customer should have a right to know what ingredients they're consuming and in what proportions. This isn't the case with Stacker 2.

The main ingredient in Stacker 2 is obviously caffeine. There is 200mg of caffeine in each serving of Stacker 2, this is equivalent to about 2 to 3 cups of coffee. This level of caffeine in diet pills is fairly common now that ephedra is banned. Caffeine has been known to promote weight loss by suppressing appetite, stimulating metabolic rate, and enhancing physical performance.

As for the other ingredients in Stacker 2:

  • kola nut extract, source of methylxanthine alkaloids which may help to suppress appetite;
  • yerba maté, known for its appetite suppressant properties and may have mild thermogenic effects;
  • cassia mimosoides extract, reduces fat absorption by inhibiting the lipase enzyme which is responsible for digestion of fats;
  • white willow bark, anti-inflammatory similar to aspirin which may enhance other weight loss ingredients;
  • green tea, may produce mild thermogenic effects and increase calorie expenditure;
  • guggulsterone, may stimulate thyroid gland thereby boosting metabolism; and
  • gymnema, helps control blood sugar levels and control cravings for sugary foods.

Ingredients (servings size 1 capsule): proprietary blend 198mg: kola nut (seeds)(3mg caffeine group alkaloids), yerba maté (fruit), cassia mimosoides extract (leaves/stems/pods), white willow bark; caffeine (anhydrous) 200mg; Tri-GuggLyptoid3 Complex™ 25mg, proprietary blend: green tea (leaves)(< 1 mg caffeine group alkaloids), guggulsterone (whole plant), gymnema (leaves); other ingredients: dextrose, gelatin, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, fd&c yellow #5, fd&c blue #1, fd&c red #3, fd&c yellow #6.

Stacker 2 Side Effects

The side effects Stacker 2 customers have complained about sound like they're mainly the result of the high caffeine content. Stacker 2 side effects that customers have reported include nausea, anxiety, feeling jittery, blurred vision, sleeplessness, stomach pain, chest pain, and headaches. A common complaint with Stacker 2 diet pills is sleeplessness, for this reason many only take 1 to 2 pills per day instead of 3.

The high dose of caffeine in these pills may cause severe withdrawal symptoms when you finally decide to discontinue using Stacker 2. Such symptoms may include headache, fatigue, depression, irritability, difficulty concentrating, muscle pain, and in extreme cases flu-like symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. For this reason you may consider rationing enough Stacker 2 pills so over the last couple weeks you slowly reduce the dosage down to one pill a day – and then perhaps to even one pill every second day.

Is Stacker 2 Safe?

I haven't heard of any serious adverse reactions to Stacker 2 from customers, and from my own quick review of the ingredients I note only one which may cause concern – caffeine. Caffeine isn't really that huge of a deal, however for those who react negatively to this ingredient you may want to avoid Stacker 2 or at least take it at a reduced dosage until you "feel it out". As for the other ingredients in Stacker 2 I strongly encourage you to review the list of ingredients with your doctor to ensure there's nothing which may adversely affect your health.

For those allergic to food coloring you should note Stacker 2 contains a bunch, including:

  • Yellow #5, also known as tartrazine;
  • Yellow #6, also known as sunset yellow;
  • Red #3, also known as erythrosine; and
  • Blue #1, also known as brilliant blue.
