Leptoprin-SF Overview

AG Waterhouse, manufacturer of Leptoprin-SF, claims to have developed a powerful, safe, clinically proven fat-loss tool, perfect for anyone who is unable to take advantage of the original Leptoprin (stimulant) formula. They say Leptoprin-SF is the most advanced, most powerful stimulant-free fat-loss formula available today. A formula ideal for those who simply find that stimulant based weight loss supplements give them the jitters or an uncomfortable edginess.

Phew ... what a mouth full! Let's look beyond the marketing shall we ..

Recently the popularity of Leptoprin-SF has surged, which likely has more to do with the massive marketing campaign than it does with the product's effectiveness. In fact from the research I've done and customer reviews I've read, Leptoprin-SF doesn't live up to customer's expectations. The majority who've commented on Leptoprin-SF admit they've lost a few pounds but overall are disappointed. More than once I've heard from customers who've since switched from Leptoprin-SF to Lipovarin and experienced much better results.

A major blow to Leptoprin-SF's credibility came when Oprah Magazine's November 2003 issue casted doubts on the supplements ability to promote weight loss. Apparently a clinical study published in the journal Current Therapeutic Research showed there was no significant differences in weight loss between the group taking Leptoprin-SF and the placebo group. I certainly find this easy to believe considering the only ingredients included in Leptoprin-SF which may even remotely promote weight loss include calcium, commiphora mukul extract, garcinia cambogia, and l-tyrosine.

The bottom line? I'm unimpressed with this diet pill, to be honest it's no different than taking a calcium supplement, l-tyrosine supplement, and two aspirin, three times per day. Sure there are other ingredients in their "precious" proprietary blend but there remains little evidence many of these ingredients even promote weight loss. More importantly, few Leptoprin-SF customers I've heard from had anything good to say about this weight loss supplement and many have since switched to Lipovarin and experienced much better results. I believe you'll be better served looking elsewhere for a weight loss aid.

Personally I believe the only true way to permanently lose weight is to adopt new lifestyle habits, including a regular exercise routine and healthy diet plan - supplements or no supplements.

Leptoprin-SF Results

The manufacturer for Leptoprin-SF references a clinical study on their website. This study claims participants "given the active Leptoprin-SF compound ... in conjunction with modest caloric restriction and exercise" experienced 11 times more weight loss and 64% more fat loss than those on diet and exercise alone. The one phrase they use that really bugs me is this one "given the active Leptoprin-SF compound," hmmm ... does this mean they were given Leptoprin-SF capsules or not? If I had to venture a guess I'm going to guess the participants in this study did not receive Leptoprin-SF capsules. You would think if they did in fact use the capsules they would tell you straight out and not be so devious with their wording. So if this is the case then can we take such a clinical study seriously? - I don't think so!.

Sadly from the Leptoprin-SF customers I've personally heard from, and from the customer reviews I've read on-line, few have found this appetite suppressant to be very effective. For those who like numbers, less than 35% of Leptoprin-SF customers gave this supplement a positive review. Those who were negative about Leptoprin-SF say the supplement failed to curb their appetite. One women who stuck with Leptoprin-SF for 60 days said she noticed no weight loss, then after switching to Lipovarin for one month lost 17 lbs!

Leptoprin-SF Dosage

It's important to always read and follow the directions on the product label before taking any dietary supplements. Often manufactures change their formulas which may or may not result in a change with the recommended dosage.

At the time of writing the recommended dosage for Leptoprin-SF is to take two capsules with a full glass of water, three times per day: morning, noon and early evening. You may take Leptoprin-SF with or without food. Do not exceed recommended use.

Leptoprin-SF Ingredients

Leptoprin-SF lives up to its stimulant free claim, as there doesn't appear to be any stimulants in this formula. The main ingredients are calcium and a trademarked ingredient called Leptoprin-SF™. I personally get ticked off when I see trademarked ingredients, such ingredients provide NO VALUE to the end customer, they only serve to protect the manufacturer's "precious" proprietary blend, sound good in marketing literature, and for those easily fooled they may incorrectly perceive these ingredients as valuable. I'm a firm believer that the customer should have a right to know what ingredients they're consuming and in what proportions.

In the case of Leptoprin-SF we have a very poor idea of what's actually in this diet pill because we have no proportions. I can tell you the only ingredients which look like they may even remotely promote weight loss include calcium, commiphora mukul extract, garcinia cambogia, and l-tyrosine. The remaining ingredients I looked up but was unable to find any credible evidence that they promoted weight loss at all, including acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), dipotassium phosphate, sodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, phosphatidyl choline, scutellaria, bupleurum, and epimedium.

One word of caution: when researching diet pills and weight loss supplements – or any supplements for that matter – customers should immediately get suspicious when the manufacturer doesn't list the ingredients on their website. This is the case with Leptoprin-SF, however I was able to track down the ingredients for you.

Ingredients (serving size 2 capsules): calcium (amino acid chelate) 132mg; Leptoprin-SF™ 1493.5mg, proprietary blend: calcium phosphate, commiphora mukul extract, garcinia cambogia (HCA 125mg), l-tyrosine, acetylsalicylic acid 162.5mg, dipotassium phosphate, sodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, phosphatidyl choline, scutellaria (root), bupleurum (root), epimedium (herb); other ingredients: rice flour.

Leptoprin-SF Side Effects

The manufacturer of Leptoprin-SF suggests the side effects you may experience for the first week include tremors, anxiety, dry mouth or insomnia. They say reducing your dosage should eliminate these side effects, however if they persist or become bothersome stop taking Leptoprin-SF.

From the Leptoprin-SF customers I've heard from, and from customer reviews I've read on-line, some customers may experience side-effects including an urge to vomit, dizziness, stomach problems, shaky, and tingling in the extremities. The most common complaint with Leptoprin-SF is the urge to vomit after taking the pills on an empty stomach. No doubt this has something to do with the medium dose of aspirin in each serving, for this reason it may be a wise choice to take this dietary supplement with food.

Is Leptoprin-SF Safe?

I wasn't able to find any reports of major adverse reactions to Leptoprin-SF, however Leptoprin-SF does contain almost 163mg of aspirin per serving (2 pills). Therefore I'd suggest if you're allergic to, or react negatively to aspirin you may want to avoid Leptoprin-SF or at least take it at a reduced dosage until you "feel it out". As for the other ingredients in Leptoprin-SF I strongly encourage you to review the list of ingredients with your doctor to ensure there's nothing which may adversely affect your health.

The manufacturer's warning:

WARNINGS: Do not take if sensitive to or if allergic to aspirin. Do not use if pregnant (it is especially important not to use aspirin during the last 3 months of pregnancy unless specifically directed to do so by a physician because it may cause problems in the unborn child or complications during delivery), nursing, have asthma, or have stomach problems (such as heartburn, upset stomach or stomach pain) that persist or recur, or if you have ulcers or bleeding problems, unless directed by a physician. If ringing in the ears or temporary loss of hearing occurs, consult a physician before taking again.

DRUG INTERACTION PRECAUTION: Do not take this product if you are taking MAO inhibitors or a prescription drug for anticoagulation (thinning of the blood), diabetes, gout or arthritis, or any other prescription drug unless directed by a physician. This product is not intended for pain relief, fever, toothache, or any other analgesic effect.

Keep out of the reach of children. Children and teenagers should not use this product, or any other product containing aspirin, for chicken pox or flu symptoms before a physician is consulted about Reye Syndrome, a rare but serious illness reported to be associated with aspirin. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

ALCOHOL WARNING: If you consume 3 or more alcoholic drinks every day, ask your physician whether you should take aspirin. Aspirin may cause stomach bleeding.
