Nutralab, the distributer for DEXL-10 Hoodia Gordonii, claims hoodia gordonii will naturally and safely suppress appetite. On their website they reference a DEX-L10 Hoodia Gordonii clinical study completed by Dr. Richard M. Goldfarb, Medical Director of a Philadelphia Clinical research facility, which confirms its appetite suppressant properties. A human trial is also mentioned in which 7 overweight patients supplementing with hoodia lost an average of 10 lbs over a 28 day period.

So where does this hoodia gordonii come from you ask? It simply comes from the Kalahari dessert in South Africa. It's in the Kalahari dessert where this cactus like succulent, which belongs to the aloe family, grows naturally. For years the San people (native to the region) have been consuming hoodia gordonii to suppress their appetites in times of hardship or during long hunting mission. It's only recently that the unique appetite suppressing properties of this plant have been exposed to the global market.

With hoodia gordonii it's important to understand that the research is still very new. The appetite suppressing properties of this plant have apparently helped the San people suppress their appetite, but whether these properties can be successfully duplicated and sold in supplement form is unclear. The molecule believed responsible for the appetite suppressing properties of hoodia gordonii is licensed exclusively to Phytopharm. As I understand it Phytopharm is legally the only company allowed to market hoodia gordonii as a weight loss aid, but clearly there are already countless products flooding the market. At the time of writing Phytopharm themselves do not have a product yet available.

From research I've done and customer reviews I've read, DEXL-10 Hoodia Gordonii is one of the few hoodia gordonii appetite suppressants that mean business. The ingredient in this weight loss supplement is simply hoodia gordonii. As for the customer reviews, they're a mixed bag, but more customers are positive about DEXL-10 than negative. From the sounds of it DEXL-10 has successfully helped suppress appetite, however there wasn't many reports of stunning weight loss as a result.

At the time of writing the recommended dosage for DEXL-10 Hoodia Gordonii is to take 1 capsule 1 hour before lunch and dinner with 8 ounces of water or as recommended by a health practitioner. Do not exceed 6 capsules daily.

While it's best to follow the directions on the label, some consumers have reported they needed to take up to four pills per day for a few days before DEXL-10 successfully suppressed their appetite; for others DEXL-10 worked pretty well when they took 3 pills per day.

Nutralab maintains there are no known side effects from DEXL-10 Hoodia Gordonii. However, some consumers who've taken DEXL-10 have noted minor headaches, drowsiness, and dry mouth. The only semi-serious side effect which was reported from one individual was heart palpitations, which stopped after discontinuing DEXL-10.

Overall very few DEXL-10 customers complain of any side effects at all, and those side effects which were reported are minor when compared to side effects experienced from comparable weight loss supplements.

Is Hoodia Gordonii Safe?

I haven't heard of any adverse reactions to DEXL-10 Hoodia Gordonii from consumers, and apparently the bushmen of the Kalahari dessert have been eating hoodia gordonii for thousands of years. This leads me to believe hoodia gordonii is a safe dietary supplement, however to know for sure we'll have to wait for the studies. Phytopharm is still in the process of clinical trials where they are trying to establish the safety profile of hoodia gordonii extract. The results of these studies will likely not be available for a few years yet.

To be devil's advocate I could argue that the life expectancy of the bushmen of the Kalahari dessert is nowhere close to that enjoyed in the USA, and is likely less than 40 years of age. Having said that can we honestly say there have been any long-term studies on the effect of hoodia gordonii? Don't get me wrong, I'm not implying that hoodia gordonii has anything to do with the bushman's lower life expectancy, just that we don't know with any degree of certainty the long-term results of hoodia gordonii.
