CortiSlim

Controls Cortisol Levels

CortiSlim Overview

The manufacturer for CortiSlim™ blames chronic stress as the reason why many of us pack on the pounds. They claim stress causes us to reach for comfort foods and skip-out on workouts, which results in excess weight gain. To address this they promote reducing stress through diet, exercise and supplementation – with CortiSlim of course.

From what I understand CortiSlim has been formulated to control stress related cortisol levels. The supplement, formulated by Dr. Shawn Talbott Ph. D, provides a combination of vitamins, minerals, and herbs including three proprietary blends designed specifically to help maximize weight loss success: Cortiplex™, Leptiplex™, and Insutrol™. Which the manufacture claims will "help modulate your body's response to everyday stress."

From research I've done and customer reviews I've read, CortiSlim isn't for everyone. While some people have seen success with CortiSlim, others became frustrated with the weight loss supplement and swore never to waste their money again. The frustration some have is understandable, CortiSlim doesn't work as a fat burner per say, instead it works to control levels of cortisol – a cortisol controller as I've called it. If stress related cortisol is not the reason for your weight gain then I suspect CortiSlim will do very little to help you lose weight. Alternatively, if you live a very stressful lifestyle and high levels of cortisol in your system have not been associated with other health conditions, then CortiSlim may help to promote weight loss, or at the very least prevent additional weight gain.

The bottom line? Most of us gain weight because we consume many more calories than we burn off with exercise. While I do agree some of us over-eat as a result of stress, and yes cortisol has been associated with weight gain, I have my doubts that this diet pill is going to work for the majority of overweight or obese individuals. I think many will find other diet pills and weight loss supplements will better meet their expectations. Personally I believe the only true way to permanently lose weight is to adopt new lifestyle habits, including a regular exercise routine and healthy diet plan - supplements or no supplements.

CortiSlim Results

The manufacturer for CortiSlim claims you can expect to lose between 8 to 10 lbs a month; however, it may take up to 3 months before effects are noticeable. Wow! Such claims are surprisingly low-key for a diet pill company, usually we're bombarded with unreasonable and unhealthy weight loss projections. For this reason I have to give the manufacturer of CortiSlim some credit, they're one of the few that openly admit their product is "no magic bullet." Instead they encourage customers to supplement with CortiSlim as part of their weight loss program, which must also include a healthy diet plan and moderate exercise program.

The majority (approximately 65%) of CortiSlim customers I've heard from personally, and from customer reviews I've read on-line, have indicated they were disappointed with CortiSlim's results. Those who were positive about CortiSlim were those who lost weight as a result of less "stress" eating, allowing them to stick to a healthy diet plan. An interesting point to note is the high number of CortiSlim customers who gave a positive review yet didn't lose any weight. I would agree this sounds counterintuitive, after all a diet pill is supposed to help you lose weight right? Well the reason for the positive review is these customers enjoyed the anti-anxiety effect of the pills. Many claim they'll continue to take the diet pill simply for the calming and stress-reduced feeling they enjoy.

To give CortiSlim the benefit of the doubt, I have to comment a little further. The number of poor reviews for this diet pill likely stem from poorly set expectations. This diet pill is not a typical fat burner or appetite suppressant, instead this diet pill acts as a cortisol controller. For this reason it will likely only promote weight loss in those individuals who's excess weight gain is a result of high cortisol levels brought about by a highly stressful lifestyle. If this isn't the case then I seriously doubt CortiSlim will help with weight loss at all.

CortiSlim Dosage

It's important to always read and follow the directions on the product label before taking any dietary supplements. Often manufactures change their formulas which may or may not result in a change with the recommended dosage.

At the time of writing the recommended dosage for CortiSlim is to take 2 capsules per day, 1 capsule with breakfast and 1 capsule with lunch. For an advanced dosage it's recommended to take 2 capsules with each meal, 2 to 3 times per day. Do not exceed 6 capsules per day.

CortiSlim Ingredients

Personally as the number of trademarked ingredients in a dietary supplement increases, so to does my suspicion as to the effectiveness of the supplement. That said, CortiSlim contains three trademarked ingredients, including: Cortiplex™, Leptiplex™, and Insutrol™.

For those of you who've read similar reviews I've written for other dietary supplements you'll know how much I dislike trademarked ingredients. Such ingredients provide NO VALUE to the end customer, they only serve to protect the manufacturer's "precious" proprietary blend, sound good in marketing literature, and for those easily fooled they may incorrectly perceive these ingredients as valuable. I'm a firm believer that the customer should have a right to know what ingredients they're consuming and in what proportions - this is not the case with CortiSlim.

Ingredients (servings size 1 capsule): vitamin C (as calcium ascorbate) 100mg; calcium (as calcium carbonate, calcium ascorbate) 150mg; chromium (as chromium polynicotinate) 50mcg; Cortiplex™ 58.75mg, proprietary blend: magnolia bark extract (magnolia officinalis) 1.5% honokiol, beta-sitoserol, Suntheanine (as 100% l-theanine); Leptiplex™ 125mg, proprietary blend: green tea leaf extract (camellia sinensis) 50% EGCG, bitter orange peel extract (citrus aurantium) 5% synephrine; Insutrol™ 16.5mg, proprietary blend: banaba leaf leaf extract (lagerstroemia speciosa) 1% corosolic acid, vanadyl sulfate (providing 5mcg vanadium); other ingredients: gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, water, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (vegetable derived).

CortiSlim Side Effects

CortiSlim side effects appear to be minimal and some are even pleasant. Some of the negative side effects customers have reported include bloating, sleepiness, drowsiness, and lower energy. While some of the pleasant side effects include less anger, less frustration, and very sound sleeping.

Is CortiSlim Safe?

I haven't heard of any adverse reactions to CortiSlim from customers, but from my own quick review of the ingredients I note two which may cause some concern: caffeine and bitter orange peel extract. Caffeine isn't really that huge of a deal and the amount in this supplement is minimal, however for those who react negatively to this ingredient you may want to avoid CortiSlim or at least take it at a reduced dosage until you "feel it out". Bitter orange peal extract on the other hand is a concern, aka citrus aurantium. Citrus aurantium is an ephedra like stimulant and comes from a fruit known as bitter orange. The concern over this ingredient is its structural similarity to ephedra, raising fear that it may cause similar serious side effects. Citrus aurantium's other common names include: synephrine, zhi shi, citrus bergamia, citrus bigaradia, citrus vulgaris, among others. As for the other ingredients in CortiSlim I strongly encourage you to review the list of ingredients with your doctor to ensure there's nothing which may adversely affect your health.

The manufacturer's warning:

WARNING: DO NOT take if pregnant or nursing. For adult use only. If you have any medical condition or are taking any medication, consult a health care professional prior to use. This product contains small amounts of caffeine naturally found in green tea. This product does not contain ephedra.
